L-Glutamine Promising For Weight Loss

A recent study from Brazil found that rats eating a high-fat diet who were fed supplements of L-Glutamine decreased weight gain by 15 percent and reduced central body fat (stomach, etc) by 50 percent. Blood sugar and insulin were also substantially decreased (Fat News article).
Apparently L-Glutamine works by increasing the metabolism, as well as increasing […]

Save Calories While Snacking!

To lose weight while keeping your metabolism running, many experts advise eating 6 small meals a day. While I admit I don’t do this - it doesn’t seem too practical - I do try to get in small snacks throughout the day.
It’s easy to overdo it on the snacks if you’re hungry - say 3:00 […]

Artichokes - The Perfect Vegetable

Running the risk of sounding boring, I love fresh vegetables. They make a great side dish or even a meal with the right sauce or seasoning. Right now my favorite veggie ever, artichokes, are in season. Why are these the perfect vegetable?
For one thing, 1 large artichoke (they’re huge, trust me) will only cost you […]

Benefit’s Jiggle Gel Review

In my second review of cellulite treatments, I’d like to talk about Benefit’s Jiggle Gel. I acquired this after finding out Knoxville does indeed have a Benefit counter, then going on a week-long Benefit binge (Benetint, anyone?). The premise is that it acts as an “invisible girdle” for your skin.
I liked the idea of an […]

Study Says Fat Tax Would Save Lives

A study published Thursday at the Oxford University in London says that a 17.5 percent tax on sugary, fatty and salty foods could save thousands of lives a year (MSNBC).
Right now, there is already a tax on a few “junk” foods such as ice cream and potato chips.
I can see some major problems with a […]

FitFlops For Effortless Leg Toning

Working at Bath and Body Works made me privileged to find out about the new FitFlop shoes in May, months before they were stocked in stores. These flip-flops are said to mimic the act of barefoot walking, help tone your legs and even reduce the appearance of cellulite.
They do all these things simply by walking […]

I’m Back!

Hey all, and I’m sorry I’ve been so flaky with the blog. We spent all week at Wrightsville Beach at a hotel with a terrible internet signal. We managed to get one outside on the deck, but this computer only holds a charge for a few minutes.
The beach was great - we got lots of […]

Caudalie Contouring Concentrate Review

What a mouthful! I bought Caudalie Contouring Concentrate at a Bath and Body Works flagship store. The label promised it to be “cellulite draining.” I kind of liked the idea of all my cellulite escaping through my pores, although it obviously doesn’t do that.
I wasn’t expecting miracles, since some cellulite creams/gels take weeks to even […]

Eating Healthy At The Beach

Well, I’m heading off to Wrightsville Beach, NC today for 5 days (I’ll continue to post while I’m there). Yesterday was full of packing and picking up last-minute items (like sunscreen!). Now I’m formulating a plan to not break my low-carb diet at the beach.
It will be tough, since the mainstays of Wrightsville Beach […]
