A Skinny Gene?
Scientists have discovered a gene called the adipose gene, present in all humans. Those with good copies of the gene are much thinner than those with poorly functioning copies (MSNBC).
Of course, the scientific community is very excited about this. Suppose they were able to put the gene in pill form? Then everyone could be skinny and live happily ever after!
We know a person’s weight is about more than genes, however. I believe that genes may make a person more likely to go one way or the other - however, eating habits and exercise determine a good portion of this.
I propose that scientists spend less time looking for that magic bullet and more time researching the diets that have been proven to cause lasting weight loss (like eating more fruits, vegetables, dairy, eggs and lean meat and cutting out all refined carbs).
What do you think? Are you waiting for a pill to come out to make you thin with no effort? (Sounds nice, doesn’t it?) Or are you taking steps to ensure a healthy weight right now?

Transient Stresses Might Turn on “Skinny Gene”
First, I think it is better to name that gene “Skinny” as Doctor Graff in his study in 2007 named it and not “Adipose” as Doctor Winifred Doane called it fifty years ago, since its stimulation leads to skinning and not to adiposity.
Second, it is well known that genes are present in a changing mutable states and the “Skinny” gene is not an exception. I think that if we succeed in its manipulation by exposing it repeatedly to transient stresses, it will become stimulated and sliming of the individual will result.
Feeding obese persons by frequent micro-meals daily (5 – 10 meals per day) leads among other effects to psychobiological effects. One of these effects may be exposing the body cells to transient stresses, hence stimulating the “Skinny” Gene.
The regime depending on frequent micro-meals is named by me: Luqaimat Diet; and I called the method of its application: Luqaimat Training Technique “LTT”. This Luqaimat diet has yielded outstanding results on weight loss (average loss was 32.4 Kg in the first year in my study - in Jan 2005 – in 313 cases out of 345 obese patients starting the study). After the success of that study I - and many other Egyptian dietitians whom learned my technique - have continued to witness similar rates of success with obese and extremely obese patients.
