Burning The Scale

Healthy Yogurt, Healthy Cheese

Have you noticed the competition between the special “digestive aid” yogurts and cheese? I’m baffled. I’ve always turned to yogurt to help tummy upsets, but Activia itself has always seemed suspiciously gimmicky and when I saw that there plain yogurt had flavoring added to it, I wouldn’t touch the stuff.

However, probiotics are something that I’m very interested in, and I would love to try to add that to my diet. This friendly bacteria doesn’t just work with your insides, but can even help with your skin. That’s always something I’m striving to improve– your skin can always be smoother and healthier. Even though I am a slightly obsessive spa-goer and do the facial thing all the time, there’s nothing like the glow of healthy eating. . .

When I saw the advertisement for Liveactive Natural Cheese, I was excited that they’re stepping things up and bringing something else into the “happy digestion world” besides yogurt. I’m definitely considering their “Healthy Cheese Snacks,” which have 90 calories for seven pieces, 8g of protein, and 20% of your DV of Calcium. While there is also 20% of your daily allowed fat, it’s totally worth it if you’re going to eat cheese. (I might just have to have my husband ration out a portion a day, though. I do love my cheese.) I think I’m going to try it out soon, and I will let you know how it goes.

Let me know if you’re into this digestive-aiding cheese and/or yogurt. What are your favorite brands and do they work for you?

Ugh - I don’t eat cheese or yogurt, though I am intrigued by the healthy yogurt. My sister just bought some this weekend and I will have to get her take on it.

Glad you brought up the probiotics, as I have been meaning to take one in supplement form, so I now have another mission for the week.

I work with Yoplait yogurts and I recently read this post on probiotcs. I thought you may be interested in knowing that Yoplait also has a yogurt with probiotics available called Yo-Plus.

Yo-Plus is the only yogurt available that contains Optibalance™, a blend of special probiotic cultures and a natural fiber. Yo-Plus is a good source of calcium, fiber, Vitamin A and Vitamin D. When compared with Dannon™’s Activia™, only Yo-Plus has the added benefit of dietary fiber for added digestive health benefits, plus vitamins A and D.

If you were interested, I could provide you with a coupon redeemable for free Yo-Plus yogurt so that you can taste for yourself how good it is. If you liked Yo-Plus, I could also provide you with a web link to post where readers could download coupons for a discount on Yo-Plus from their their local grocer.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
