“Is This Scale Right?”

I’ve noticed this really odd trend at the office, and I would love it if someone explains it to me. Two days a week, I’m stationed at the desk, where I take reservations at a health clinic in the afternoon. I’m out, I see people, keep my social skills up to par, and generally reap the benefits of a 50% off spa certificates. But now I’m moving in two weeks, and there’s one thing that still puzzles me after being there a year and a half: the questions about the scale.
There’s a nice, new glass scale that sits in the back of the wellness center, and everyone who tries it asks me the same thing: “Is that scale accurate?” In a wellness center, would you have one on display (obviously new) that wasn’t? It’s my last great question before I leave this place, and I’d love an answer.
