Miracle Food (and Snack): Acai
I am in love with acai, and since I haven’t been in Brazil for awhile, I wasn’t sure how I could get my hands on it. Acai has omega-3, 6, and 9s and is pumped with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. But now that I have been searching for ways to take advantage of this tasty treat, I have found options for everyone living this side of the equator– from Brazilian Shop.com! I know that the photos on the site aren’t exactly tempting, but the description of what acai can do for you is pretty nice indeed:
Açaí pulp contains:* A remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging, with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.
* A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols to help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.
* An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contraction and regeneration.
I recommend buying frozen acai that has been flash pasteurized. You can find it here at Brazilian Shop.com, and I am tempted to try this jam as well!
