Shrek Tells Kids To Exercise
![]()
Looks like Shrek is the spokesperon (spokesman?) for the anti-obesity campaign, urging kids to exercise at least an hour a day. A group for children’s advocacy wants the Department of Health and Human Services to pull him from the campaign.
Shrek, the animated ogre from the popular movies Shrek and Shrek Two (Shrek the Third is on its way) has been in the forefront of advertisements for junk food, endorsing McDonald’s, M&M’s, Fruit Loops, and Pop Tarts, to name a few.
I can see their point, which is that Shrek is sending the kids mixed messages - and if they listen to him about exercise, they’re sure to do the same for junk food. I mean, isn’t it a little hypocritical to be saying “Hey kids, be sure to exercise, but don’t forget your RDA of Happy Meals and sugary cereal, too!”
What do you think? Let me know in the comments :)
