Still No Calorie Info For NY Restaurants

The regulation that was going to require most New York City restaurants to post their nutritional information by July 1 has been postponed until October. Apparently, since the rule requires the info to be posted “prominently” (especially calories), restaurants are complaining that it will clutter up their menu boards.
Restaurant chains such as Burger King and McDonald’s don’t plan to follow this rule. Burger King already has posted the information on their web site, so I guess they assume that people can just look it up. McDonald’s will hand out flyers but not post anything either.
Oh, puh-lease! Why do you think they’re not complying? Maybe because Burger King’s Double Whopper with cheese has almost 1,000 calories? Or that the smallest size of McDonalds’ McFlurries have over 600 (with 20 g fat)?
They’re doing a huge disservice to their customers by refusing to follow these rules. Hopefully those who are trying to be healthy will simply stay away from fast food!
