What To Do With Clothes That Don’t Fit

Let’s say you’ve lost a good amount of weight and are ready to stop. The problem? All your clothes are too loose. Don’t make the mistake of keeping them around, thinking “Just in case…” This basically gives you permission to gain the weight again. It’s helpful to get rid of everything that is too big for you so you won’t feel that it’s no big deal if you gain a few pounds. You can give the clothes to Goodwill, or take them to a used clothing store and get some cash for them. Then, go ahead and splurge on a new wardrobe. You deserve it!
On the other hand, it’s also common to keep clothes you can’t fit into anymore. Say you’re a size 8, and there are pairs of size 2 jeans sitting in your closet. It’s hard to part with things you keep telling yourself you’ll fit into again. My suggestion - don’t hang on to clothes that you won’t realistically fit into again. I know I’ll never be a size zero like I was in high school - I gave all those clothes to charity. However, it might be helpful to have one item in a doable size that you can look at as an incentive - just don’t fall into the trap of setting yourself up for failure.
Me? I’ve got my eye on a pair of Juicy Couture jeans in a size 26. I’m almost there!

My mom had gastric bypass surgery over a year ago. While she was loosing weight, she would donate her too big clothes to the hospital where she had her surgery. In turn, she would be able to pick up clothes from people that had done the same thing. Granted, you can’t be choosy when you’re getting hand-me-downs, but it is a way to get clothes that fit through the whole process without having to buy them all the time.

Love the idea of getting rid of those clothes. Cleaner closet = clearer mind = freer body = more energy = less weight…and so on…

Rebecca, I totally agree. A clearer mind paves the way for weight loss! :)
